Passenger ships

Compass Deck

Ask the ship. It answers, in your language, and walks you there.

Talking wayfinding screens for cruise ships: passengers ask where something is, in their own words, and get a route from this deck to that place — with live detours around closed zones, drills and crowds.

A moment with Compass Deck

"Where is the Italian restaurant?" A 55-inch screen on Deck 7 answers in Portuguese, shows the route down two decks and forward, and sends it to the guest's wristband. During a muster drill the same screens switch to assembly-station guidance in every language on board.

The problem it removes

A cruise ship is a town laid out on sixteen decks with no street names.

Printed deck plans date, signage cannot speak every language on board, and crew spend hours a day giving directions instead of hospitality.

Natural conversation — placeholder photo01 / 06

Capability 1

Natural conversation

Guests ask the way they would ask a crew member. The screen understands intent, not keywords, and clarifies when needed.

Deck-to-deck routing — placeholder photo02 / 06

Capability 2

Deck-to-deck routing

Routes account for lifts, stairs, accessibility and one-way corridors, and update when a zone is closed for cleaning or a private event.

Multilingual by default — placeholder photo03 / 06

Capability 3

Multilingual by default

Speech in, speech out, text on screen — in the language the guest spoke. Crew mode shows the same in the ship's working language.

Emergency mode — placeholder photo04 / 06

Capability 4

Emergency mode

On a drill or alarm, every screen becomes an assembly-station guide synchronised with the bridge, with evacuation flow and head-count support.

Live venue status — placeholder photo05 / 06

Capability 5

Live venue status

Opening hours, queue length and capacity for restaurants, shows and pools, pulled from the ship's systems.

Capability 6

Handoff to wearable

The route continues on the guest's band or phone, with turn-by-turn prompts and a crew call button.

How it works

Sense. Understand. Decide. Act.

  1. 01SenseCameras, radar, microphones, environmental and access sensors — chosen for the space, not the brochure.
  2. 02UnderstandVision and speech models run on an edge gateway in the room, so nothing waits for the cloud and nothing leaves it without consent.
  3. 03DecideScene rules and safety policies turn detections into decisions: escalate, notify, actuate, or stay quiet.
  4. 04ActLights, locks, motors, doors, screens, speakers and people — through open protocols and one operations console.

Operations

One console. Every event, with its evidence.

Live status, detections with the clip or image that triggered them, who was notified and what happened next. Per room, per car, per gate, per site.

Questions

What clients ask first.

Does it listen all the time?

No. The microphones open when a guest approaches and taps, or says the wake word. Audio is processed on the screen and discarded.

How does it handle closed areas?

Crew mark a zone closed in the console, or it comes from the ship's systems; every route recalculates within seconds.

Is it certified for marine use?

Hardware is specified to marine standards for vibration, humidity and EMC; we work with the yard and class society on type approval.
